QBank Practice Modes: Tutor vs Timed

The QBank offers two distinct practice modes so you can learn concepts first and then train exam pacing.

Quick Comparison

Feature Tutor Mode Timed Mode
Explanations Shown after each question Shown after the block is finished
Clock / pacing No timer pressure Simulates test timing (aim ~80–85s/question)
Best for Learning phase, first pass, remediation Exam simulation, stamina, decision speed
Review style Learn as you go; slower but deeper Batch review with marked questions after
Adaptive mix The adaptive engine can prioritize weak systems/disciples in either mode (unless you override with a Custom Block).

Where to Choose the Mode

  1. Dashboard → QBank → Settings (top-right).
  2. Select Mode: Tutor or Timed.
  3. (Optional) Set System/Discipline, # of Questions, and Difficulty, then start.

Recommendation

  • Start in Tutor to build concepts and understand distractors.
  • Finish in Timed as exam day nears to train pacing, endurance, and test-day flow.
Example 4-Week Ramp
Weeks 1–2: Tutor for weak topics (or Custom Blocks) → 1–2 Timed blocks/week.
Week 3: Split 50/50 Tutor and Timed; add a 3–4 block Timed day.
Week 4: Mostly Timed; full 6–7 Timed blocks across 2 days to simulate the exam.

Tips

  • Don’t stay in Tutor too long: switch to Timed once you’re recognizing patterns.
  • Mark & move in Timed: avoid time sinks; review marked items at the end.
  • Review efficiently: in either mode, capture the one reason the correct choice is right and the trap you fell for.

At-a-Glance

Tutor: see explanations after each Q • best for learning
Timed: explanations after finishing • best for pacing & simulation
Path: Dashboard → QBank → Settings → Mode (Tutor/Timed)
