Best Experience: Desktop (Chrome / Firefox)
MDSteps is optimized for desktop prep. You’ll get the smoothest performance and full feature set— especially in the CCS Runner—on a recent desktop browser.
Recommended Setup
- Browser: Latest Chrome or Firefox (Edge and Safari are supported but may lag on new features).
- OS: macOS 12+ or Windows 10/11.
- Screen: 13″+ at ≥1280×800 (1440×900 or 1080p preferred).
- Hardware acceleration: On (Browser Settings → System → “Use hardware acceleration”).
- Network: Stable broadband; avoid aggressive VPNs/ad-blockers on app domains.
Mobile Support (What to Expect)
You can study on mobile, but some CCS interactions are simplified due to screen size, mobile keyboards, and restricted browser APIs.
| Area | Mobile Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| QBank | Works | Best in portrait; Timed/Tutor supported. |
| Flashcards | Works | Great for quick reps. |
| Library / Cheat Sheets | Works | Printable/downloadable from desktop. |
| Calculators | Works | Input-heavy; larger screens help. |
| CCS Runner | Limited | Some layouts/shortcuts and multi-pane views are desktop-only. |
| Community | Works | Markdown editor available. |
Quick Fixes for Mobile Issues
- Update your browser to the latest version (iOS App Store / Google Play).
- Hard refresh and clear site data/cache for the MDSteps domain:
- iOS Safari: Settings → Safari → Advanced → Website Data → search “mdsteps” → Remove.
- Chrome Android: Settings → Site settings → All sites → search “mdsteps” → Clear & reset.
- Disable content blockers / privacy extensions for MDSteps (they can block charts and requests).
- Turn off Low Power mode and screen zoom that shrinks work areas.
- Rotate to landscape for wider layouts; unlock orientation if needed.
Why Desktop Wins for CCS
- Multi-pane workspace (orders, results, timeline) fits comfortably on larger screens.
- Keyboard shortcuts and faster text input reduce case time pressure.
- Precise controls (tables, modals, dense lists) are easier with a mouse/trackpad.
Bottom line: For CCS and long study sessions, use Chrome or Firefox on desktop. If you must use mobile, update the browser, clear cache, and disable blockers for the best experience.
