Summary: Pending = ECFMG is waiting on your school via EMSWP. Accepted = school confirmed your status; ECFMG will then generate the invoice/next step (often within 24–48 hours).

What to do

  • Pending for more than a few business days: email/call your dean’s/registrar’s office to nudge them to respond in EMSWP.

  • Accepted but no next step after 48 hours: contact ECFMG to link/generate the invoice or permit.

  • Recent graduation/status change can affect eligibility for extensions vs reapply.
